Let's hear it for Julia Child!

DSC_0005

When we first moved into our little house, we were all excited about having a backyard. So excited, that our former city-dwelling selves ate as many meals as possible outside no matter how windy or cold it was.

An unexpected bonus in having a little patch of dirt for the first time is that B discovered a hidden talent for gardening. Who knew! When I begged him to plant enough roses for a cutting garden a couple of years ago, he came home with a fantastically beautiful variety called Julia Child. I sometimes think they must have been named after Julia's favorite ingredient because they range in color from the palest hint of cream to a deep rich buttery yellow. I love to put them all over the house, especially when company comes.
